WILD FLOWERS OF THE ALGARVE, SOUTHERN PORTUGAL

Spring time is the best time for wildflowers in the Algarve. After a long dry and hot summer, the winter rains and the relatively warm temperatures bring about the burst of plant growth. By April the flowering season is at its height. However in this part of the world some wildflowers bloom even in the hottest driest months.

There is a section for each season to see sketches and descriptions of flowers growing at that time of year in the Barrocal of the Algarve. These are colour coded by flower colour for easy identification.

A description of the Algarve and the region known as the Barrocal is available as a page.

Descriptions of major families of flowering plants, shrubs and trees will be added. Below is the link to Irene’s original site.
