Following the wonderful response to the annual autumn Garden Fairs in recent years we have decided to take the big step of holding our first Spring Garden Fair and take this event to the western side of the Algarve. With new specialist nurseries and a big range of plants for sale there should be something to inspire spring fever in every gardener.
There will be specialist advice available on spring planting and care for long term survival including feeding and watering advice. Our full range of Mediterranean gardening advice leaflets will be available at the fair.
Nurseries will be offering drought tolerant plants suitable for Mediterranean gardens, ground cover succulents, fruit trees, shrubs and trees.
There will be tours of the Quinta and refreshments on site with free car parking.
The Spring Garden Fair will be held at Quinta da Figueirinha, a 36 ha family-run bio-agricultural farm with agroturism facilities which has fruit orchards, themed gardens and natural vegetation. It was founded in 1988 by the agronomists Dr. Gerhard Zabel and Uta Zabel. The Quinta works towards sustainable development of the rural area and in agriculture and environmental protection, there are formal trials on site for drought resistant and fire resistant tree species and also a botanical fruit tree collection.
There will be a Plant Clinic for your garden queries, new & second hand book sales including the new book by Sue Parker on The Orchids of the Algarve and a full range of Algarve wild life and natural history books. The recently published Kew Guide to the Wildflowers of the Algarve will also be available.
